Although I am an Aussie, I grew up knowing budgies as cage birds, so I was surprised and delighted to discover that they live in large flocks in the wild.

Aussie humour is evident in the friendly name for that brief style of men's swimming trunks widely known here as 'budgie smugglers'.

This article provides excellent top tips for keeping pet parrots warm and healthy this winter. The information on purchasing a thermo perch and avian clothing is particularly useful, as a number of individuals may not be previously aware of these items. All parrot owners should definitely follow this advice.

As a Parrot owner I would not recommend buying a parrot until a child is about 10-12. Parrots are a big commitment and certainly not a toy! In my experience children younger than this tend to treat them as "play things".
